The TWO-WEEK Report

Can you believe its been two weeks since Madeline was born!?
{Actually two weeks and two days - sorry I'm late}
Boggles my mind.... That its been two weeks, not that I'm late. No surprise there ha ha

At her two week check-up she
Weighed 8 lbs 15 oz - hurray for healthy weight gain!
She is still 21 inches long - shocker, we know.
And she has a big head - I don't remember exactly and
the paper that tells us is in the diaper bag in the other room...
so you just get to know its big.

When the doctor was looking over the above information the nurse had recorded she, the doctor, looked right at me and said, "Well she must get the big head from your side of the family!"
Really? Really doctor?! Did you just tell my already tender feelings that are really sensitive about the way I look right now that I have a big head!? Not cool.  You'd think a female doctor especially would be smarter than that.  I mean come on! I had a baby two weeks ago! Can we save the body bashing for another day? I already wasn't a big fan of her so we'll see if I go back to the same doctor.  It's just such a pain changing, you know? K. Enough of my venting.

On to a happier note.  We are so in love with our little girl.  Its weird looking back and realizing that two weeks ago we didn't know what she looked like, and how our lives would be.  Because after staring at her beautiful face for two weeks I feel like I've known it forever and I'll never forget it.

It's amazing how much she's changed in just two weeks.  Already she's much more alert and active and growing and becoming her own self more and more every day.  She poops - A LOT! You know how breast fed babies can poop from every feeding to every 5-10 days? She's on the 'every feeding' side of the spectrum.  Thank goodness diapers are cheap! ...wait a second -- They're not! haha

I'd say that overall we're adjusting to the new schedule pretty well.  Although I probably would have reported better on our night time routine yesterday seeing as last night was the worst of the worst.  Did you know it is actually possible for a baby to stay awake ALL NIGHT!? Well it is.  Madeline proved that to us last night.  Luckily I don't have any classes today, so Jer took her for a little while but I tried to let him sleep so he could make his 9 am class - which he didn't end up going to anyways...
but that's beside the point.

Madeline likes her baths.  She can hold her head up so high! It's crazy! She loves being held and cuddled with.  We like that part :)  She gets the hiccups all the time - but that's pretty normal. No intentional smiles yet, but the spontaneous ones still melt our hearts.  I feel like I had so much to tell about her, but now that I'm here I can't remember it all.  I guess I'm just too busy enjoying her :) Oh she can already roll over to her side - woot woot for our little girl!

  1. what a SWEETHEART! I love that you are taking so many beautiful pictures! I really, really wish I would've had the 50mm 1.8 when Nathan was born!

    YUCK on your doctor's part...you should've kicked her or something, or at least told her off. As a woman I'm sure she would've been like, "oh, wow, you're right! I'm sorry!" I'm sure she would feel bad if she knew what she did, but that doesn't fix the fact that she said it. Ugh!!
